Memac appoints new executive creative director

Memac Ogilvy, the leading communications agency in the Middle East, announced the appointment of Steve Hough as Executive Creative Director of Memac Ogilvy & Mather Dubai.

Steve started his career as a copywriter with Saatchi & Saatchi in London. After eight years in the U.K., Steve decided to move to the Far East and joined M&C Saatchi in Hong Kong, followed a year later by a move to New Zealand.
In 2002 Steve joined Ogilvy & Mather Singapore, who were the most awarded advertising agency in Asia Pacific.
During his stint at Ogilvy, Steve worked on award winning campaigns for The Economist, The Singapore Changi Museum and Spade Magazine. During this time he won some of the world’s top awards including: a British Design and Art Direction Yellow Pencil, a New York One Show Gold Pencil and two Bronze Cannes Lions for The Economist ‘Brain’ ad. His awards tally at Ogilvy also included a further eight entries into D&AD, twenty-eight entries into the New York One Show, plus eight Cannes finalists. His poster for The Economist Magazine also became the fifth most awarded poster in the world in 2004.

After a fantastic few years with Ogilvy, Steve joined Saatchi & Saatchi as Creative Director of the Kuala Lumpur office, where, amongst his accomplishments, he produced a global campaign for Guinness. In 2006 he won a Gold Lion at Cannes for the Amnesty International “Stamps” campaign. According to Campaign’s Brief Rankings, Steve was the fifth most awarded creative in Asia in 2005, and was the top ranked creative in Malaysia for two years running. In 2006, now ECD at Saatchi Vietnam, Steve scored another three Bronze Lions and eleven finalists at Cannes. With this tally, Steve was ranked the top creative in Vietnam for two years running.
